Welcome to the website of Canine Companions Dog Training, located in Palatka, Florida.

Our Training Philosophy:

We feel that dog training should be fun, entertaining and informative for both humans and dogs. We Only use Positive methods that guide both you and your dog through a process that builds mutual trust and respect.

Our classes are limited in size, offer excellent socialization opportunities, and provide you the skills you need to train your dog. With steady but limited training time at home you will be amazed at the progress your dog makes!

Training without using force is an empowering choice for the learner and the teacher.
Canine Companions Follows LIMA Protocols

LIMA requires that trainers and behavior consultants use the "least intrusive, minimally aversive technique likely to succeed in achieving a training [or behavior change] objective with minimal risk of producing adverse side effects."  It is also a competence criterion, requiring that trainers and behavior consultants be adequately trained and skilled in order to ensure that the least intrusive and aversive procedure is in fact used.

LIMA requires that trainers/behavior consultants work to increase the use of positive reinforcement and lessen the use of punishment in work with companion animals and the humans who care for them. LIMA protocols are designed to be maximally humane to learners of all species. In order to ensure best practices, consultants/trainers should pursue and maintain competence in animal behavior consulting through education, training, or supervised experience, and should not advise on problems outside the recognized boundaries of their competencies and experience.
Our Canine Good Citizen® Group Classes:

Dogs who have a solid obedience education are a joy to live with, they respond well to household routines, have good manners in the presence of people and other dogs, and they fully enjoy the company of the owner who took the time to provide training, intellectual stimulation and a high quality of life. We sincerely hope that the Canine Good Citizen® program is only the beginning for you and your dog and that after your dog passes the CGC test you both will continue the fun and challenges by participating in other dog events such as Obedience or Agility or Rally!
Fill out the pre-training profile/class application.  Print the form and send it to us or call us and arrange an appointment to bring it to us, or give us a call and we will be glad to help you personally.

After you have completed the training profile/class form…take a  minute…hug your dog…because your dog does not know it yet but you're both about to have a LOT of fun together!

The AKC's Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Program is rapidly becoming recognized as the standard of behavior for dogs in our communities. Canine Good Citizen® resolutions have been passed by 18 state legislatures and the United States Senate, insurance companies are starting to use CGC to insure breeds they would not otherwise insure, and some condominium associations around the country now require that all dogs in the complex have earned the Canine Good Citizen® award.

Evaluators are screened by the American Kennel Club, and once approved are tested on their program knowledge.  Bob and Kay are the AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluators in Putnam County.
